Forbes Gallery & Gifts opened in Bon Accord early September, welcoming another local business into the city centre. You can find the new store just inside Bon Accord’s entrance doors from Schoolhill. You will find many gifting and unique home items in Forbes Gallery & Gifts, along with the owners’ own photographs of the North East.
The owner, Johnny Forbes decided it was the time to take his business to the next step after seeing success with ‘popping up’ in many markets and stalls over the years, more recently being based in Curated Aberdeen at weekends. Curated Aberdeen, run by charity Charlie House, sees many small businesses having stalls from Friday to Sunday each week located in lower mall of Bon Accord. There has been many businesses doing so well that they have fled Curated to have their own stores in Aberdeen.
Johnny Forbers studied BA in Commercial Photography at Robert Gordon University which lead him onto becoming a local photographer who focuses on imagery of landscapes. Aberdonians will recognise locations photographed, printed, and framed for sale in Forbes Gallery & Gifts such as Aberdeen Football Club and beaches across Aberdeenshire and Moray. The idea of a gallery in the new store is influenced by the owner’s photographic background.
The gifting part of the store sees local and Scottish items including prints, cards, coasters, mugs, notebooks, candles and cushions which are all produced locally for sale. If you are looking for some meaningful gifts or to make your home cosier this Autumn, Forbes Gallery & Gifts is the perfect place to shop.
